Little Kimberley Carlile aged 4 died on the 8th June 1986. She was starved, dehydrated, covered in bruises and weighed just 24lbs-half the normal weight for a child that age. Her stepfather Nigel Hall was jailed for life for her murder, and her mother Pauline Carlile was jailed for 12 years for cruelty. For months prior to her death, Kimberley has been imprisoned in her bedrom in her stepfather's home. She had become so desperate for food that she had eaten her own excrement. In the hours prior to her death she had been tortured by 15 cigarette burns administered to her spine. kimberley died from a traumatic subdural haemorrage caused by a kick to the head. She had extensive bruising, and had suffered heinous injuries at the hands of Hall. There was evidence of sexual abuse, although this could not be proven. Kimberley had been literally lifted up by her ears causing the skin to tear. The enquiry into her death suggested she had suffered incessant abuse for at least 9 months prior to her passing.Kimberley's last Christmas before her death was spent padlocked in her room for "being naughty". She was freezing cold and was given only a sandwich and a glass of water for her Christmas dinner as her brothers and sisters played with their toys nearby. Kimberley was seen outside shortly afterwards on one of the coldest days of the year playing in only her vest and pants. Despite this poor little girl's tender years, she told her mother shortly before her death that she wished she could die. Kimberley was failed by Greenwich social services who failed to properly investigate complaints from neighbours about the piercing screams heard coming from the house. Please remember this beautiful little girl, we must all learn from Kimberley's story. If you have any concerns about a child please don't just do nothing. RIP Kimberley, you are safe now in God's hands angel xxx

I’ve just put up my Christmas tree,
Over my rainbow in the sky.
I’ve got hundreds of presents,
So, why do you sit there and cry?
The lights are shining brightly,
My Angel friends are here,
This is going to be the best,
And I love it, don’t you fear.
The tables are set already,
It will be th biggest banquet Christmas Day,
And all my Angel friends and me,
Will be looking down your way.
So when you light your candles,
Just look up to the sky,
For it will brightly shine with ours,
So be happy, please don’t cry.
I can’t wait for Christmas,
Over my rainbow in the sky,
Let’s all enjoy it together,
Instead of the “ifs” and “why’s”
Be happy on this Christmas morn,
I will visit that’s for sure,
And then I shall return to my party,
Behind that rainbows door.
